Last October, a small 8 month old yellow lab mix puppy named Tuffy came up from KY, where he had been rescued from a high kill shelter. He was so endearing, so loving, that I took him home almost immediately to foster. We then found out that he had a previously broken leg, that was let heal without benefit of medical attention. He limped badly at times and Save a Dog had an orthopedic work up done on his leg. The doctor’s recommendation was physical therapy. For months, I took Tuffy therapy swimming, where he built up over 2 centimeters of muscle in his leg! He worked so hard that his limp is barely visible now - I am so proud of him. After 3 months with us, he found his wonderful forever home. I am walking this year in honor of Mr. Tuff Stuff. There are so few shelters that would have given him a chance, invested so much effort and money to make him healthy.
