Dear Save A Dog,
My 24 year old son, Ashford, expressed so much and so well how our family is feeling about our gentle, happy Cleo in his Facebook posting (below). We adopted her from Save a Dog in July 2004 just after Isobel finished 1st grade (now a sophomore in college) and Ashford 5th grade. This was her original summer 2004 Save A Dog description: This very sweet little dog was dropped in a drop box in KY. Her coat was so matted that she had to be shaved. She now has a lovely name to suit her personality and we're looking for a home to love and adore her.
"Cleo, "Cleo Girl," "Cleome" was truly loved and adored by us all: Bonnie Wren-Burgess, Ashford and Isobel Burgess, Priscilla Wren (Nana). She LOVED her Nana's place up in Rye, NH! She and I would get up early and take long walks...there would often be 20-30 dogs there. Cleo, however, felt it was her duty to greet each person. And go settle in the water no matter how cold!
Dear Cleo,
I hope that doggy heaven holds endless miles of beaches for you to run, endless grassy fields to sniff and meander through, endless wading pools for you to settle into, endless bunnies for you to chase, and as much delicious chicken as your tender heart desires. Thank you for being my best friend for almost half my life, and for being the best MTB trail dog I could ever ask for. Most of all, just know how very much you meant to me for the last 11 years, and how very much I will always love you. Rest in peace my adorable little puppyloaf ♡
