Dear Save A Dog,
A 6th dog is not what we needed, but, our foster dog Murphy had other thoughts. We were told
he had some difficulties, however, we saw none. He was adopted out and returned due to "aggression" issues.
But we saw none, so we kept him, Best decision ever.
Murphy, the perfect dog that was so misunderstood. The best behaved dog, the dog happiest to please, and the most loving of all our dogs. He could not get close enough. His favorite past time was to sleep on his back, with his neck cuddled into your shoulder.
He loved to run free on wooded trails or run the beaches near our summer home in Maine.
When Degenerative Myopathy robbed him use of his back legs, he still fought to run and swim on his own. By the end of the summer he adapted to his wheels and became super dog.
To see him maneuver steps or jump over logs in the woods, was a beautiful sight. Murphy put up a brave fight and we never allowed him any pain, we loved him too much.
He made our pack a 6-pack, and yet, he was the last of the 6, last of the most loving 6 dogs to each other and everyone who knew them.
Sandy, Gronk, Samson,Teddy, Riggs and Murphy, the 6 pack who will live on in our hearts forever.
Shirley's note: Anne and Lorna are true dog whisperers and they truly know the Wheaton breed. Their home was the perfect match for Murphy and he lived his life to the fullest. I'm very grateful to these two women for adopting not only Murphy, but many other dogs who were deemed "unadoptable."
